Splatoon - E3 2014 Trailer

Nintendo's latest IP, Splatoon, is definitely the type of shooter Nintendo would be expected to make. While the rest of the industry focuses on military / futuristic shooters that appear very similar in style and gameplay, Nintendo's Splatoon is bright and colorful, but seemingly just as chaotic if not more so.

The goal in Splatoon is to color the map with as much paint as possible. If your team paints the map more than the opposing team, you win. You can indeed shoot other players with paint, but that's not the main objective. The gameplay mechanics are the highlight here, as walking in the opposing team's paint slows your speed, and you'll be able to turn into a squid and swim in your own paint to access other parts of the map quicker than on foot.

Splatoon is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2015.
